Setting Up DVR Remote Viewing
When you purchase an ASC surveillance camera system and require accessibility both on your local network and over the Internet via computer, ASC requires that you have the basic networking infrastructure components at the location, where you will want your camera system installed. The required networking infrastructure components consist of:
- High Speed Internet Connection - This can be in the form of a satellite modem, DSL modem, or cable modem. It is extremely critical that your Internet connection is stable and reliable.
- Static IP - A "Static" IP is an IP address that does not change. Some Internet Service Providers may provide Statis IP addresses for free, but oftentimes you must purchase this service feature.
- Ethernet Cables - ASC Technician must be able to connect the DVR directly to your Router.
- Computer - With many DVRs, you will need to load the remote viewing software on the computers you've selected, that will enable them to view the video streams from the DVR connected to the surveillance cameras.
- Router - Routers allow multiple devices to share an Internet connection. Many DSL modems and some cable modems also function as routers. If your Internet connection device does not have router capabilities, then you will need to purchase a router.
- Port Forwarding - Your router will have to be configured to allow incoming traffic to be routed to the IP address assigned to the DVR on your local area network.
- Network Technician - If you have a Network Technician that supervises your local area network, then your Network Technician must work with us to correctly interface the DVR. ASC's tech will advise yours on DVR network configuration specifics.
